On March 8, 2023, the House of Commons successfully passed Bill C-232, which designates April as Arab Heritage Month. The National Council on Canada Arab Relations (NCCAR) wishes to extend its congratulations to the Honorable David McGuinty, Member of Ottawa South, for his exemplary work and unwavering commitment to the Arab Canadian community.

As one of Canada's fastest-growing immigrant communities, the Arab Canadian community has long advocated for a federal Arab Heritage Month, and Mr. McGuinty's support has been instrumental in making this a reality. He has consistently worked alongside the community, advocating for their needs and ensuring their representation at the federal level of government.

We are pleased to applaud Mr. McGuinty's steadfast support for the community and look forward to collaborating with him and other national organizations to celebrate the first Arab Heritage Month in the upcoming weeks.

NCCAR is a not-for-profit charitable organization based in Ottawa, dedicated to fostering greater understanding and knowledge among Canadians about the cultural, historical, and socio-economic realities of the peoples of the Arab world.

Le projet de loi C-232 désigne avril mois du patrimoine arabe au Canada. 

Le 8 mars 2023, la Chambre des communes a adopté avec succès le projet de loi C-232, qui désigne avril comme le Mois du patrimoine arabe. Le Conseil national des relations canado-arabes (NCCAR) tient à féliciter l'honorable David McGuinty, membre d'Ottawa-Sud, pour son travail exemplaire et son engagement indéfectible envers la communauté arabo-canadienne.

En tant que l'une des communautés d'immigrants à la croissance la plus rapide au Canada, la communauté arabo-canadienne plaide depuis longtemps pour un Mois fédéral du patrimoine arabe, et le soutien de M. McGuinty a joué un rôle déterminant dans la concrétisation de cet objectif. Il a toujours travaillé aux côtés de la communauté, défendant ses besoins et assurant sa représentation au niveau fédéral du gouvernement.

Nous sommes heureux d'applaudir le soutien indéfectible de M. McGuinty à la communauté et nous nous réjouissons de collaborer avec lui et d'autres organisations nationales pour célébrer le premier Mois du patrimoine arabe dans les semaines à venir.
