Manal Jomaa is a Lebanese-Canadian legal expert, cultural ambassador, and passionate advocate for human rights and social justice. Immigrating to Canada over a decade ago, she has since made remarkable contributions to both the Lebanese and Canadian communities. Manal is the founder and director of the Centre Culturel Libano-Canadien, an intercultural hub that celebrates Lebanese cultural heritage in Canada. The center provides a welcoming platform for new immigrants, helping them integrate through the transformative power of art and culture.
With a Master’s in Law and an MBA from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Manal has become a well-regarded expert in international law and immigration law. Her career has been marked by significant accomplishments, including her instrumental role in advising the National Committee of the Government of Lebanon during its World Trade Organization (WTO) accession process. Collaborating with PricewaterhouseCoopers and The Service Group, she provided vital technical and legal support to advance Lebanon’s international trade position, demonstrating her expertise and commitment to her home country’s economic and social development.
In her earlier career, Manal gained invaluable insights working with renowned law firms in the United Kingdom and Scotland. This experience enriched her perspective on business law and honed her skills in navigating complex international legal frameworks.
Manal is also a dedicated advocate for human rights, having been a driving force behind efforts to modernize Lebanon’s family law, particularly in custody laws. Her activism has focused on aligning legal standards with contemporary social values to protect the rights and well-being of families.
Her commitment to community and environmental issues is equally noteworthy. She served as a board member for Canopée, a Canadian NGO dedicated to managing the forests of Laval. Over her tenure, Manal worked to instill principles of good governance and pay equity within the organization, contributing to its mission of sustainable environmental stewardship.
Beyond her professional and activist roles, Manal is an active member of Montreal’s Lebanese community and a supporter of initiatives that enhance collaboration among Lebanese businesses in Canada. Her love for culture and expression also finds an outlet in poetry; she is an accomplished poet and a regular participant in Montreal’s literary circles, where she contributes to cultural exchange and enriches the community’s artistic life.
With her diverse contributions, Manal Jomaa continues to embody the spirit of cross-cultural collaboration, social advocacy, and professional excellence, strengthening the ties between Lebanon and Canada while fostering a vibrant and inclusive community.
