NCCAR calls for an immediate cessation of the military escalation between Israel and the Gaza Strip and urges all parties to spare civilians all acts of mutual violence
(Ottawa, August 7, 2022): NCCAR is watching with great concern developments following the airstrikes on Gaza and rocket attacks on Israel that resulted in large numbers of civilian casualties.
This escalating tension could lead to the resumption of large-scale military confrontation and exacerbate the deterioration of the already dire humanitarian situation in Gaza Strip.
NCCAR calls on all parties to show the utmost restraint in order to avoid a new escalation that could drag the region into the scourge of wars and crises open to all possibilities.
While urgently calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to end the escalation in the Middle East, our council stresses the need to contribute actively and diligently to the cessation of repeated attacks against civilians, especially women and children, and to ease the difficult human suffering in the Palestinian territories.
NCCAR emphasizes the significance of restoring calm, returning to the table of dialogue, and invoking international legitimacy to establish security and peace in the Middle East region, which is passing through the path of ending the Israeli Occupation to all Palestinian territories.
The NCCAR warns that continuation of unilateral actions and the direct targeting of civilians constitute a flagrant violation of the charters and resolutions of international legitimacy and will inevitably undermine the chances of resuming the peace process to achieve security and stability in the region.

Tout en appelant d'urgence la communauté internationale à assumer ses responsabilités pour mettre fin à l'escalade au Moyen-Orient, notre Conseil souligne la nécessité de contribuer activement et avec diligence à la cessation des attaques répétées contre les civils, en particulier les femmes et les enfants, et d'apaiser les souffrances humaines dans les territoires palestiniens. Le NCCAR souligne l'importance de rétablir le calme, de revenir à la table du dialogue et d'invoquer la légitimité internationale pour établir la sécurité et la paix dans la région du Moyen-Orient, qui passe par une fin à l'occupation israélienne dans tous les territoires palestiniens.
