National Council of Canada-Arab Relations Commemorates Second Anniversary of Arab Heritage Month with Focus on Arab Literature, Arts, and Advocacy Against Violence. 

Ottawa, Canada - April 1, 2024 - The National Council of Canada-Arab Relations (NCCAR) proudly celebrates the second anniversary of the historic declaration designating April as Arab Heritage Month in Canada. This significant milestone, achieved through the passage of Bill C-232 in the House of Commons, stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication and advocacy of the Arab Canadian community.

This year, We are honored to partner with the Arabic Canadian Book Fair to host a dinner and launch the 2nd Arabic Canadian book fair on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 7:00 pm. This collaboration with the Book Fair, now in its second edition in Mississauga, underscores our commitment to showcasing the remarkable contributions of Arab Canadians to literature and culture. Moreover, our presence at the book fair on April 13 and 14 further reinforces our dedication to promoting Arab literature and arts within our community.

The dinner presents an extraordinary opportunity to unite and pay tribute to the rich tapestry of Arab culture, history, literature, and art. Esteemed keynote speakers, soon to be announced, will illuminate various facets of Arab History, Art, and heritage, promising engaging and enlightening presentations.

In addition to the keynote speeches, the event will feature a compelling video presentation spotlighting the history of Gaza—a powerful testament to the resilience and enduring spirit of the Palestinian people.

This year's Arab Heritage Month also serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing injustices faced by our brothers and sisters in occupied Palestine. NCCAR stands in solidarity with those affected by the relentless onslaught of genocide and condemns in the strongest terms the atrocities perpetrated against innocent civilians. As advocates for peace, justice, and human rights, we call upon the international community to take immediate and decisive action to halt the violence, hold perpetrators accountable, and work towards a sustainable resolution that upholds the dignity and rights of all people.

Furthermore, as advocates for justice and equality, we cannot remain silent in the face of injustice and violence. We urge Canadians to stand with in solidarity as we advocate for an end to the genocide and atrocities in occupied Palestine."

 Le Conseil national des relations Canada-Arabie commémore le deuxième anniversaire du Mois du patrimoine arabe en mettant l'accent sur la littérature, les arts et la lutte contre la violence

Ottawa, Canada - 1er avril 2024 - Le Conseil national des relations Canada-Arabie (NCCAR) célèbre fièrement le deuxième anniversaire de la déclaration historique désignant avril comme Mois du patrimoine arabe au Canada. Cette étape significative, réalisée grâce à l'adoption du projet de loi C-232 à la Chambre des communes, témoigne de l'engagement indéfectible et du plaidoyer de la communauté arabo-canadienne.

Cette année, nous sommes honorés de nous associer à la Foire du livre canado-arabe pour organiser un dîner et lancer la 2ème Foire du livre canado-arabe le vendredi 12 avril 2024 à 19h00. Cette collaboration avec la Foire du livre, maintenant dans sa deuxième édition à Mississauga, souligne notre engagement à mettre en valeur les contributions remarquables des Canadiens d'origine arabe à la littérature et à la culture. De plus, notre présence à la foire du livre les 13 et 14 avril renforce encore notre détermination à promouvoir la littérature et les arts arabes au sein de notre communauté.

Le dîner offre une occasion extraordinaire de rassembler et de rendre hommage à la riche diversité de la culture, de l'histoire, de la littérature et de l'art arabes. Des conférenciers invités de renom, bientôt annoncés, éclaireront divers aspects de l'histoire, de l'art et du patrimoine arabes, promettant des présentations captivantes et éclairantes.

En plus des discours principaux, l'événement comprendra une présentation vidéo captivante mettant en lumière l'histoire de Gaza - un puissant témoignage de la résilience et de l'esprit durable du peuple palestinien.

Le Mois du patrimoine arabe de cette année rappelle également les injustices persistantes auxquelles sont confrontés nos frères et sœurs en Palestine occupée. Le NCCAR se tient solidaire de ceux affectés par l'assaut incessant du génocide et condamne avec la plus grande fermeté les atrocités perpétrées contre les civils innocents. En tant que défenseurs de la paix, de la justice et des droits de l'homme, nous appelons la communauté internationale à prendre des mesures immédiates et décisives pour mettre fin à la violence, tenir les responsables pour responsables, et œuvrer en vue d'une résolution durable qui respecte la dignité et les droits de toutes les personnes.

"Alors que nous marquons le deuxième anniversaire du Mois du patrimoine arabe, nous sommes rappelés à la résilience, à la force et à la beauté de la communauté arabo-canadienne", a déclaré Rania Hamdan, présidente du NCCAR. "À travers notre célébration de la littérature et des arts arabes, nous honorons non seulement notre riche patrimoine culturel, mais nous réaffirmons également notre engagement à promouvoir la compréhension, le dialogue et l'unité parmi tous les Canadiens. En outre, en tant que défenseurs de la justice et de l'égalité, nous ne pouvons rester silencieux face à l'injustice et à la violence. Nous exhortons les Canadiens à se tenir solidaires alors que nous plaidons pour mettre fin au génocide et aux atrocités en Palestine occupée."
