November 25 - Spotlight on Abbis Mahmoud
Abbis Mahmoud is a Lebanese Canadian entrepreneur and community advocate whose journey from a humble village in southern Lebanon to Canada in 1972 has inspired a lifetime of innovation and giving back. As the founder of DreamMind Group (established February 2007), Abbis has built a multi-faceted enterprise encompassing hospitality, publishing, real estate, and construction, all while championing initiatives that uplift communities in need.
With over three decades of excellence in nightlife, fine dining, and immersive event experiences, Abbis is driven by a mission to create meaningful connections and transformative moments. Through his work, he exemplifies how entrepreneurial success can fuel impactful philanthropy, turning dreams into reality for people and communities alike.
Operation Ramzieh: A Legacy of Compassion and Global Impact
In 2020, Abbis Mahmoud founded Operation Ramzieh, a charitable initiative inspired by his late mother’s legacy of generosity in Lebanon. Responding to the urgent needs brought on by the pandemic, Operation Ramzieh delivered thousands of emergency food and supply kits to vulnerable populations across Ontario. Its efforts focused on supporting seniors and high-risk individuals who, due to their heightened vulnerability to COVID-19, were unable to safely access essential items. With over 273,000 individuals served, the organization remains a critical source of support, offering food and financial assistance to at-risk groups.
Building on this foundation of compassion and rapid response, Abbis expanded Operation Ramzieh’s reach globally through initiatives like Canada for Lebanon. In response to the devastating challenges faced by hospitals in Beirut following the 2020 explosion, this campaign provided critical medical supplies, food, clothing, and toys, which were flown directly to Lebanon via cargo planes. By leveraging a network of Lebanese professionals in Canada and forging partnerships with Canadian organizations, Abbis ensured aid reached prominent hospitals and non- Governmental humanitarian organizations, addressing the region’s most urgent needs by brining millions of dollars of medicine and 200,000 pounds of food to Lebanon.
Continued Global Humanitarian Efforts
Abbis has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to global humanitarian aid through fundraising and private donations. In February 2024, he raised $150,000 for Doctors Without Borders to provide critical assistance to the people of Gaza. Later, in October 2024, Abbis organized another major fundraising campaign, partnering with Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC), Doctors Without Borders, the Government of Lebanon, and AirLink. This effort resulted in the shipment of essential medical equipment, thousands of pounds of food, and $400,000 worth of medicine to Lebanon, with an additional $1 million in medical aid set to follow. Additionally, he facilitated the delivery of ambulances to refugee camps and communities in dire need.
Guided by a spirit of generosity and a commitment to service, Abbis Mahmoud continues to champion initiatives that improve lives, strengthen communities, and provide essential support in times of crisis. “It is a profound honor to be recognized as part of NCCAR’s “30 Days, 30 Lebanese Canadian Personalities” campaign, especially as we celebrate Lebanese heritage amid these challenging times. I am grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside remarkable individuals whose stories contribute to our shared legacy. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to NCCAR for their dedication to celebrating and strengthening the bond between Canada and Lebanon, and I am proud to be a part of this inspiring initiative.”

He lived through the Lebanese Civil War and its complexities, realizing that the sectarian system is the graveyard of Lebanese dreams and that Lebanon's future progress depends on ending sectarianism and transitioning toward a citizenship-based system.
He pursued his university education at the Lebanese University, moving between the Institute of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Arts in the History Department before completing his studies in the Faculty of Law and Political Science in 1984. He then shifted to a career in banking. In 1987, he immigrated to Canada, marking the start of a new phase centered on social work within the Lebanese community in Edmonton.
His journey began with the Association of North Lebanon, where he was elected president for three years. In 1996, alongside a group of Lebanese friends, he revived the Lebanese Cultural University chapter in Canada, sparking a new chapter in community work among Lebanese Canadians. Three years later, he was elected president of the chapter in Edmonton. His focus was on fostering unity among Lebanese people in Canada and building bridges with the broader Canadian community.
For over 29 years, the world Lebanese cultural union has collaborated with various Lebanese organizations to provide services to the Lebanese diaspora. These services include verifying passport applications and personal documents on behalf of the Lebanese Embassy, teaching the Arabic language as well as English to newcomers, donating ambulances to the civil defense after the 2006 war, and providing a fully equipped fire truck in 2023. It has also organized events for national occasions, including Lebanon’s Independence Day each year, and has participated in Heritage Days.
Today, the world Lebanese Cultural union continues its involvement with Lebanese community organizations to coordinate a relief campaign aimed at gathering donations and support for Lebanon, as well as for Doctors Without Borders.

November 16 - Spotlight on Hicham Takache
Since childhood, Hicham Takache has drawn inspiration from the beauty of nature. Wandering among trees, mountains, and rivers, he found solace and creativity in capturing these scenes through his art. Over the years, his passion for painting expanded to include places that resonated deeply with his soul—whether it was the breathtaking landscapes of Canada, the serene beauty of Switzerland, or the timeless charm of France.
Some of his works, such as his rendition of the Mona Lisa and his painting of "Mecca," hold deeply personal significance. Despite receiving offers to purchase these pieces, he chose to keep them as part of his private collection—treasures too meaningful to part with.
While Hicham often prefers the solitude of his studio to perfect his craft, he also enjoys the dynamic energy of public painting symposiums. Creating art in the presence of fellow artists and onlookers provides a unique blend of collaboration and inspiration. He believes these gatherings are invaluable for young artists, offering opportunities to learn by observing seasoned painters in action.
The rise of artificial intelligence in art presents both challenges and opportunities. Hicham views AI as a tool to enhance an artist's vision, offering new perspectives while building on humanity's rich artistic heritage. Although still in its infancy, he recognizes AI's potential to revolutionize the art world and enable extraordinary creative milestones.
Beyond his dedication to art, Hicham pursued another dream: building a home that reflected his aspirations. After living between Canada and Lebanon, he ultimately settled in Lebanon, purchasing land in the serene Al-Rahibat neighborhood. With Allah’s blessings, he constructed a beautiful building where each of his three daughters was given an apartment. He reserved the top floor for himself, designing it with care and love as a reflection of a lifetime of dreams.
Life, however, tested him in unimaginable ways. Losing his building was a devastating blow, but the loss of his paintings—over 80 works spanning five decades—was even more heartbreaking. Among them were his first Mona Lisa painting from 1976 and pieces from the 1970s and 1980s that held immense sentimental and historical value. While many of his works achieved international acclaim over the past 25 years, those lost were more than art—they were the essence of his life’s work.
Despite this tragedy, Hicham remains steadfast. He prays for the strength to rebuild his home and recreate as many of his lost paintings as possible. For him, this is not merely about restoration but an act of resistance, resilience, and hope for a brighter, more refined future. Through it all, Hicham is deeply grateful for his blessings in all circumstances. His journey continues with unwavering perseverance, a profound commitment to his art, and an enduring love for his homeland.

November 15 - Spotlight on Mark Ghanimé
Mark Ghanimé is a premier Lebanese Canadian actor born in Calgary, Canada but he didn’t set out to be in the performing arts. After graduating with a finance degree, he was in the real estate development world, working with his father and other developers. The attraction to performing was too great however and at the age of 22, Mark began taking dance, vocal training and ultimately on a whim, saying yes to a background role on a film starring Juliette Lewis.
From that day forward he knew being on set was where he belonged. His mixed, ethnically ambiguous strength afforded him the ability to play a myriad of archetypes from good, bad and everything in between and those piercing green eyes command attention when he’s on the screen, big or small.
After success in a number of network TV shows in Vancouver, Mark booked the series regular role of Sergio Balleseros in SyFy network’s Helix which filmed in Montreal, Canada. After the show’s exciting 2 season run, Mark moved on to recur and star in various successful shows like Private Eyes, Reign, Slasher and found films for Syfy and Netflix along the way.
Mark currently stars as Dr. Cameron Hayek, the new Lebanese American doctor in town on Netflix’s VIRGIN RIVER. The show is one of the most streamed shows of all time.
Mark resides in Montreal with his wife as they raise their lovely daughter together.

Arrived in Montreal in 1989 with his family at 15 years old, he lived, studied and worked in Montreal-North for the last 35 years of his life. November 10- Spotlight on Andrea Soueidan
Andrea Soueidan: A Radiant Entrepreneur Committed to Connection and Giving Back
Andrea Soueidan is more than an entrepreneur—she is a radiant force who believes in the power of positive energy and the importance of giving back. As the founder of Altitude Connections, a bespoke concierge service in Montreal, Andrea has built a business that reflects her lifelong passion for service, hospitality, and connecting people. Known for her warm and vibrant spirit, she often says, "I believe in energy, I believe in radiance. You need to sprinkle it out to receive it."
Her mission is simple yet profound: to give her clients the luxury of time—one of the most precious gifts of all. "I am a time-saver," Andrea explains, offering tailored personal, family, and corporate concierge services that allow her clients to focus on what truly matters in their lives.
A Journey of Connection and Resilience
Born into a loving Lebanese family and raised in Montreal, Andrea’s journey has been one of both personal and professional growth. After earning a degree in Business, she began her career in banking. However, life took her on an exciting adventure. Marriage brought her to Chicago, where she spent sixteen years raising her son and daughter. A transformative move to Dubai reignited Andrea's passion for connecting with others. Although she had always maintained relationships across the globe, it was in Dubai that she felt a deep calling to revive her love for hosting and caring for people—realizing she was destined for something greater.
Taking the Leap: Founding Altitude Connections
In 2012, Andrea returned to Montreal with a renewed sense of purpose, ready to prioritize her dreams. She recalls, "I struggled like everybody else. I was divorcing, starting a new business, and raising two kids." Despite the challenges, Andrea remained determined, knowing she was meant for more. Drawing on her natural ability to connect and offer recommendations, she transformed her talents into a business. "You have to be resilient, believe in yourself, and just keep going," Andrea advises, and that perseverance paid off.
Launching Altitude Connections came with its own set of hurdles—many people misunderstood the concept of a personal concierge. But Andrea’s resilience shone through as she tirelessly explained her services at networking events. Her reputation grew, and #AskAndreaMTL became synonymous with trust and efficiency.
Full Circle Moments and Empowering Women
In 2022, Andrea co-founded Women Investing in Women to create a supportive community for female entrepreneurs. Understanding the pivotal role networking played in her own success, she ensured this initiative provided a safe haven for authentic connections. "We all started at the bottom. This isn’t just another networking event; it’s about true and safe connection," she emphasizes.
2024 marks a new chapter with the launch of Connections by Ralia, an event space Andrea co-created with Ralia Realty. Located on St. Laurent Boulevard, this project brings her journey full circle—transforming her passion for connecting with others into a dedicated event space where professionals, families, and entrepreneurs can come together in a harmonious blend of wellness and business.
Community Leadership and Giving Back
Andrea’s commitment to community and philanthropy extends beyond her business. She proudly serves on the Board of Friends for the Lebanese Film Festival, the Cedars Cancer Foundation Board, and the McCord Museum Gala Event Board, contributing her leadership and passion to raise awareness and support for these important causes.
Believing that success is not just about receiving, but also about giving back, Andrea and her team host the annual Sip N' Shop MTL event to support local businesses, artists, and services. Entry to the event is a shoe box filled with essential items for women in need, wrapped with a personal note. These boxes are donated to vulnerable women through a partnership with The Shoebox Project, helping to brighten the holidays for those most in need.
Andrea's Legacy
“You do good, you receive good. Look at challenges as opportunities to move forward, take leaps, do better, and learn,” Andrea suggests. Her story is a powerful testament to the importance of connection, resilience, and following one's intuition. Through her journey, Andrea continues to inspire and uplift others, proving that genuine human connection is the most valuable currency of all.

Born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1969, Fayrouz grew up immersed in her homeland's rich cultural tapestry. In 1975, as unrest escalated, she and her family relocated to Kuwait in search of safety. This move marked the beginning of a journey characterized by resilience and an enduring commitment to personal and professional development.
Fayrouz pursued her education in Programming and Data Science, establishing a strong academic foundation. However, when the Gulf War erupted in 1990, she returned to Lebanon, where she shifted her focus to finance and earned her accounting certification in Beirut. This pivotal moment not only sharpened her skills but also deepened her understanding of the financial landscape—a knowledge base that would later empower and support many others.
In 1995, Fayrouz immigrated to Canada, embracing a new chapter filled with both challenges and opportunities. She and her spouse launched an accounting firm, marking the beginning of her professional journey in Canada. Drawing on her experiences as a newcomer, Fayrouz recognized the struggles immigrants often face while navigating an unfamiliar society. Driven by a passion for helping others, she dedicated herself to supporting newcomers, educating them on financial and immigration laws, and equipping individuals and families to build secure, fulfilling lives in their new country.
For over 25 years, Fayrouz has remained a tireless advocate for her community, with social responsibility guiding her every step. Her unwavering commitment to creating inclusive spaces and offering meaningful support has touched countless lives. In 2023, she expanded her philanthropic endeavors by joining the Sadr Foundation Canada, a non-profit organization dedicated to humanitarian work for orphans and women. Fayrouz plays a vital role in event planning and logistics, ensuring the foundation's initiatives reach those most in need. She also actively collects material and financial donations to aid those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Lebanon, demonstrating her unbreakable bond with her homeland.
Throughout her journey, Fayrouz has embodied compassion, resilience, and a relentless drive to uplift her community, believing that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.
