November 25 - Spotlight on Abbis Mahmoud

Abbis Mahmoud is a Lebanese Canadian entrepreneur and community advocate whose journey from a humble village in southern Lebanon to Canada in 1972 has inspired a lifetime of innovation and giving back. As the founder of DreamMind Group (established February 2007), Abbis has built a multi-faceted enterprise encompassing hospitality, publishing, real estate, and construction, all while championing initiatives that uplift communities in need.

With over three decades of excellence in nightlife, fine dining, and immersive event experiences, Abbis is driven by a mission to create meaningful connections and transformative moments. Through his work, he exemplifies how entrepreneurial success can fuel impactful philanthropy, turning dreams into reality for people and communities alike.

Operation Ramzieh: A Legacy of Compassion and Global Impact

In 2020, Abbis Mahmoud founded Operation Ramzieh, a charitable initiative inspired by his late mother’s legacy of generosity in Lebanon. Responding to the urgent needs brought on by the pandemic, Operation Ramzieh delivered thousands of emergency food and supply kits to vulnerable populations across Ontario. Its efforts focused on supporting seniors and high-risk individuals who, due to their heightened vulnerability to COVID-19, were unable to safely access essential items. With over 273,000 individuals served, the organization remains a critical source of support, offering food and financial assistance to at-risk groups.

Building on this foundation of compassion and rapid response, Abbis expanded Operation Ramzieh’s reach globally through initiatives like Canada for Lebanon. In response to the devastating challenges faced by hospitals in Beirut following the 2020 explosion, this campaign provided critical medical supplies, food, clothing, and toys, which were flown directly to Lebanon via cargo planes. By leveraging a network of Lebanese professionals in Canada and forging partnerships with Canadian organizations, Abbis ensured aid reached prominent hospitals and non- Governmental humanitarian organizations, addressing the region’s most urgent needs by brining millions of dollars of medicine and 200,000 pounds of food to Lebanon.

Continued Global Humanitarian Efforts

Abbis has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to global humanitarian aid through fundraising and private donations. In February 2024, he raised $150,000 for Doctors Without Borders to provide critical assistance to the people of Gaza. Later, in October 2024, Abbis organized another major fundraising campaign, partnering with Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC), Doctors Without Borders, the Government of Lebanon, and AirLink. This effort resulted in the shipment of essential medical equipment, thousands of pounds of food, and $400,000 worth of medicine to Lebanon, with an additional $1 million in medical aid set to follow. Additionally, he facilitated the delivery of ambulances to refugee camps and communities in dire need.

Guided by a spirit of generosity and a commitment to service, Abbis Mahmoud continues to champion initiatives that improve lives, strengthen communities, and provide essential support in times of crisis.   “It is a profound honor to be recognized as part of NCCAR’s “30 Days, 30 Lebanese Canadian Personalities” campaign, especially as we celebrate Lebanese heritage amid these challenging times. I am grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside remarkable individuals whose stories contribute to our shared legacy. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to NCCAR for their dedication to celebrating and strengthening the bond between Canada and Lebanon, and I am proud to be a part of this inspiring initiative.”
