Programs - National Council on Canada-Arab Relations

Our Programs

---------------------

As part of its educational mandate, NCCAR aims to offer programs that enhance public awareness about the diverse realities of the Arab World. Our programs include:

1. Educational Conferences, Seminars and Symposiums on issues of interest to Canadians about the Arab World

2. Training Workshops to better equip and prepare professionals for their work related to the Arab World

3. Research and Studies on issues of interest to Canadians about the Arab World

4. Youth Internship Program for Members of Parliament and the Senate

Our Target Audiences

In addition to the general public our programs reach out to four main audiences. If you fall outside of these groups, please contact us for your needs. We can adapt our programs for most scenarios.

1. Parliamentarians and Senior Government officials:

The Council offers activities and training which raise awareness and understanding of Parliamentarians and Senior Government officials about the Arab World enabling them to better address their constituents concerns, to deal with contemporary issues which arise in House of Commons debates and other fora and to be better prepared for work and missions to the Middle East and North Africa.

2. Media

The Council strives to keep the media informed about the diverse realities of the Arab World and to connect media professionals to scholars and experts on the broad range of issues and topics of interest to Canadians. Workshops and orientation to journalists reporting on the Middle East and North Africa and scholarly conferences on media coverage of the region can be customized to fit the needs of Canadian media.

3. Canadian Youth

The Council seeks to foster interest and enhance the knowledge of Canadian youth in the culture, history and politics of the Arab World. This is one of our key missions.  We accomplish this by engaging youth in topic and issue-focused conferences and workshops, cooperating with secondary and post-secondary institutions and student organisations and offering internships to Canadian youth. In return Canadian youth are rewarded with job opportunities, become active volunteers in civil society organisations dedicated wholly or partially to building ties between Canada and the peoples of the Arab world or become leaders in institutions and organisations which cherish their knowledge.

4. Like-minded Organizations

The Council collaborates with organisations which have various ties and interest in the peoples, institutions and countries of the Middle East and North Africa.  We pursue collaborative educational programs and actions on topics which can reach out to a broad cross-section of the Canadian population including Canadians of Arab origin.
